Repair Friday is coming again!
Instead of Black Friday, Image Wear stores and the imagewear.fi online store traditionally have Repair Friday. RepairFriday will be celebrated this year on Friday 29 November. During the campaign, the buyer of IW workwear will receive a Vaatelaastari® (FabPatch™) package with the purchase. With the help of Vaatelaastari®, you can easily patch up small holes and thus extend the life cycle of the garment .
Repairing and recycling clothing is eco-friendly
With Vaatelaastari® you can easily and quickly repair damaged work clothes and extend their service life. By repairing, you extend the life cycle of the product and save nature.
In addition to repairing, we also encourage you to recycle work clothes. We offer a variety of reuse and recycling services, which allow work clothes to be used until the end.
- With the Aarre reuse service, the customer's work clothes are recycled from employee to employee.
- Työvaatelainaamo Rental Service is an ecological and cost-effective way to acquire workwear for varying needs.
- It is possible to recycle work clothes that are at the end of their textile life cycle into durable and recyclable Cliff composite products through Kierre® service.
- The textile materials of the products at the end of the work clothes line can also be used to new textile products .
The most important eco-deed is that work clothes are made from high-quality, durable materials developed for work clothes. The longer the garment is in original use, the more we protect the environment.
The cooperation between the Finnish Freshwater Foundation and Image Wear aims at the protection and sustainable use of water
Vibrant and clean waters are the central goal of the Finnish Freshwater Foundation. As a non-profit operator, the foundation promotes the protection and sustainable use of water bodies and participates in the restoration of water bodies. The foundation also aims to increase understanding of the importance of water as part of everyday life.
"Each of us can influence the preservation of our unique waterways with our choices. Water responsibility in everyday life can mean minimizing harmful substances, reducing water consumption and supporting conservation work," says Liisa Hämäläinen, Founder and Content Director of the Finnish Freshwater Foundation. "Although there is plenty of water in Finland, our water footprint also extends to where the products are manufactured. By extending the life of clothes and repairing or borrowing them instead of buying new ones, you can lighten your own water footprint. At the same time, it is important to take care of our own nearby waters so that future generations can enjoy them as well," Hämäläinen continues .
Production chains in the textile industry are long and use a lot of water. "Since Image Wear, as a small operator, does not have much opportunity to influence the processes of our suppliers, we support the activities of the Finnish Freshwater Foundation in improving the condition of water bodies," says Kati Tukiainen, Development Director at Image Wear, and continues: "At the same time, we want to investigate how we can improve our own water footprint and highlight the importance of water conservation and the that everyone can do their own act of water conservation by using up their clothes."
A recipe for responsible water consumption
The joint recipe for water-responsible consumption by the Finnish Freshwater Foundation and Image Wear consists of the following ingredients:
- Borrow from a friend and to a friend
- Buy well made and only for what you need
- By treating your clothes well, you also treat nature and yourself well
- Use, wash, repair and recycle
- Use biodegradable detergents
- Avoid unnecessary washing times - airing often replaces washing
